GENERAL BUSINESS AT MONDAY EVENING'S MEETINGj ASSISTANCE IN CARNIVAL Several matters of general interest were discussed at Monday even.ng's meeting of the Rotorua Ladies' Hockey Association at which Miss K. Carnachan presided. As an additional trophy for the present competition it was decided to allocate the K. Carnachan Rosebowl to the runners-up dn the series, the winner to receive the Wairua-a-Rangi Cup. Mamaku, the present holders of the rosebowl, are to be asked to re;urn it to the secretary. Co-operation Sought Mr. C. J. Casey stated that he had been asked by a sub-committee of the Borough Council Publicity and Amuse. ment Committee to suggest to the association that it co-operate in a project to arrange a Winter Carnival in Rotorua during the last week in Aug_ ast. He stated that a suggested programme had been drawn up by the sub-committee embodying day and svening attractions and that the public. ty and Amusement Committee would be prepared to advertise the carnival and its fixtures extensively in consideration of support received from the various sporting bodies. The earniival would be held during the golf championships and also during che next school holidays. In discussion the project was considered a very important move in the progress of the town and it was finally decided to instruct the secretary to communicate with' both Tauranga and Hamilton suggesting matches in Rotorua during the week of the earniival. Saturday's Braw The fixtures for next Saturday wero arranged as follows: — Shamrocks v. Mourea, No. 1, Mr. Casey. Taniwha v. Arawa, No. 2, Mr. Watts. Both games will be played on the Government Grounds at 2 p.m.
