Napier, Tuesday. The opinion that filrther conferences of local. Jbodies and others concerned in the dispute were futile was expressed by Mr. C. O. Morse, mayor of Napier, who stated that the terms offered to the workers were attractive, hut they had not found favour. "The provincial council has decided to make the strike a national affair," he said, "and reading between the lines I consider we in Hawkes Bay are being made a chopping block."
