CAR TREATMENT.
It has often b'eeri said that a motor cHr Jtt hiriny respe'cts reseiribl'es a ^uih'aii being. .t.iiis is tfrie, be'chuse it Has its moods and whims, responds to good or bad . treatment, and needs prop'er care if long life ,is to .be enjoyed. But it hates these cold "Arctic" mornings. It is reluctarit to start but oh its day's job. It would, ap-parently, much prefer to lie m'etaphorically in ^ts bed; that is; its garage. Cold sfciffened, it fiilds mdvenient difficult*. When you press the starter button, the slow, laboridiis rbtatiori of the engine iriake's you wbnder if it.is ev,er going to start. Sbmetftiies. it takes- niaiiy ininutss before the engine is firihg properly; and in the meantime your battery has been drained of rnuch of its current; the starting meehanism subjectsd to undue strains; and quite a lot of raw, unburned petrol has seeped past your pist'on rings ihto the crankcase; waste'd. But what is Wofse, it is during ^ this p'eriod before the engiine has thoroughly warmed up arid before the oil is 'cir'cuMting the igreatest w'ear takes place in your engine. Therefore, the shorter that period the better it is for everything concerned. "the drie wajr to reducei th'at darig'er period, and incidentally to save you mucH tiih'e ah'd annoyahce; is to change your bil to the correct iwinteigrade. It allows. the eng;ine to be turtied bver qiiickly and easily; ahd^ provided a highly volatile motor spirit is used, will permit ari alriiost iristantaneous start, even on the coldest days. An ordinary "thin" oriis not enough because it wiil thin out darigerously when the erigine hecomes hot. A "double range" odl, simdlar to those now in general use for aeroplane engine s; is required, as the double range quality enables it to maintain its body when the car is (jriven hard, and still give imriiediat'e circulation at low temperatures. Siich ari oil is to be fourid in Mobiloil Arctic, a "double rarigje ' oil whi'ch gives full protection at all speeds. . Just as for the sake of your health and comfort you.need correct clothing iri the winter, so does your engine in tHes'e "Arctic" days need/ the correct winter lubri'cant.
