WEEK-END GAMES YTSITING TEAMS FROM HAMILTON MEET ROTORUA ENJOYABLE GAMES * The week end was markbd by a serles of matches between teams from the Hamilton Golf Cluo and the Rotorua Golf Club. On Saturday afternoon, the visitors put a team of 26 players in the field drawing on Meldrum (Wanganui) and Harper (Auckland) to make up the deficiency. During the whole day, heavy dew made the fairways and igreens exceptionally heavy. Overhead conditions were excellent. The follow.ng are the results of the four-ball, best ball match. Rotorua won by 8 to 4, one match being drawn. A remarkable run home was made by Gillies and Radford who were three down going to the 15th. They took the next four holes in 2, 3, 2, 4, winning the match. Gillies recorded two's at the- 6th, 14th and 17th. the sixth being halved in two. jBogey Match In the bogey match which was played in conjunction the winners were Parata and Kelly, 3- up. The next best cards were returned by M. Carr and Buddle, Barker and Spedding and Redhea.d and Ford, all 2 up. Perfect weather on Sunday made piay most enjoyable the course be.ng ea :ier and drier than on Saturday. The morning match was singles, off the stick, played in fours formation. Visitors Entertained The visiting players were the guests of the club and they gre«. .ly enjoyed the matches. Forgathering afler the day's exertion in the club-ro m they were welcomed and farewell by the captain, Mr. E. La Trobe H 11, who expressed the club's pleasure a seeln|g so large and representative! a body of golfers. Mr. G. H. Bindon, captam ol th_ Hamilton Club, replied thanking the club for its hospitality and stressmg ithe pleasure the visitors had in playinig. on the Rotorua links. At the conclusion of a highly complimentary « speech, he called for musical hmours for their hosts, which were very hearuily given. ^MacDonald Cup The samii-finals of the Ma.c mnald Cup produced many thrills. /- -ter a strenuous contest W. Pakes, WednesJay's hope, went down on t le last green to P. A. Kusabs. Fenton eonceding three strokes to Owen Jones, failed to hold his position, and went down to his opponent by that margin.
