INN'OVATION IN LONDON. Within the next few months ordinary police. patrol cars in London will be equipped with wireless, thus making the motiOr, patrols much more effectivp agqinst the car bandit. A new fleet of cars, capable of speeds between. 80 apd 90 miles an hour^ has been ordered for the use of Scotland Yard's Flying Squ'ad. , For. some nionths past the wireless experts, at the Yard, in conjunctiop with the Air Force, who have supplie(| tenders,; ha.ve.heen experimenting with Tadio-telephqnes, similar to those employed by some police forces in the United States. Experimental transmitters were erected at Tottenham -and Kew, but the signals, fransmitted, to; the p'olioe cars seriously interfered with reeeption on ordinary wireless spts over q considerqble area near the broadcasting stations. It was therefore1 de7 cided to adopt the Morse cpde methpd — by which, oflicers in patrolling cars will picic' up messages from Scotland Yard.
