Ree, July 2, 6.35 p.m. Shanghai, July 1. A remarkable story of murder and piracy on the high seas comes from Darien. A few days ago, a Chinese-owned steamer left Tientsin in command of a Russian, Capttain Vikhman, who was accompanied hy his wife. Before departure, he gave passages to five men believed' to he of German nationality. As soon as the vessel reached the open seas, however, the passengers are said to have attacked and murdered the captain and his wife together with seven memhers of the Chinese crew. They took full control of the vessel planning to sail across the Pacific and gain some American port. In order to obtain extra prOvisions, however, they put into a port near Darien but bad navigation put the ship ashore. The murderers absconded but later three of them were arrested'. The hunt for the other two is continuing.
