CHARGES OF MURDER MADE AGAINST TWO MEN STATEMENT BY ACCUSED

Rec. June 28, 7.15 p.m. Syd'ney, June 28. The inquest was eoncluded to-day into the death of John Rowland, who ,wsis shot dead by bandits when returning from a Masonic gathering on >May 15. The coroner returned a verdict of death from a bullet wound and committed Claud Wallace for trial on a charge of murder. He also found that Eric Newlyn was present at the shooting and that he aided and abetted in the crime. Newlyn also was committeo dn a charge of murder. Newlyn, in a statement to detectives, declared that Wallace planned the hold-up. He said that he wanted money to buy himself something to eat. Rowland attacked Wallace with a suitcase. He (Newlyn) heard a shot and heard Rowland fall. He wanted to take him to a hospital but heard people coming and decided to drive off in the car.
