A rather intense depression is now mo'ving on to the south-east of Australia. Winds: West to north-west, of light to moderate force. Freshening in and south of Cook Strait. Forecast: Fair to fine for the most • part but with showers in Westiand and later becomi'ng unsettled in westI ern districts from Taranaki southward. Rain setting in later. Temperatures mild. Following are the barometer, rnaxlmum and minimum thermonietsr, sunshine, and rainfall rea'dings recorded at the Governmeht Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday. Barometer 30.097ins. Thermometer (max) 59.0deg. Thermometer (min.) 44.2deg. Thermometer (min on grass) .... 33.8deg. Rainfall 0.01ins. Bright Sunshine 2.2hrs.
