Excursion Fares Particulars of the issue of cheap excursion fares to Claudelands and train arrangem&nts made by the Railway Department in connection with the Waikato trots on Saturday, July 1, are advertised in this issue. Blue Bath Work Inquiries made at the Public Works Department yesterday revealed that so far no definite advice has heen received regarding the commencement of work on the Blue Bath building. The overseer, Mr. F. Barnieott, considers that it will not be possible to start the work for fully a week after he receives official notification owing to the necessity for delayimg requisitions for material until that time. Applications for Boots The extent to which the free issue of boots to relief worlcers is gaining popularity among the men has ibeen demonstr,ated in the steady flow of applications. On Saturday a record was created when 60 applications were received hy the 'borough unemployment officer, Mr. A. C. Gordon, in as many minutes. Motutara Golf Club A general meeting of members of the Motutara IGolf Club has been ealled for this evening for the purpose of electing a secretary, three members of the committee and to discuss other urgent business. The meeting will be held at The Bungalow at 8 o'clock. Quite So! Extract from a Rotorua Rugby referee's report on a match: "I had to warp both teams for threatening behaviour. The warning took effect. Two players had to leave the field through injuries." Basketball Dance The basketball dance which takes plaee in the Majestic Ballroom to_ I night, promises to exceed the very ; high standard set by the association i in the past. This met with gen- ! eral support but Mr. E. T. Johnson ; amused those present hy asking if he would be eharged as he never partook of supper.
