REFITTING PISTONS
On some ma.kes of engine the biggest ends of the conn'ecting rods are larger than the bores of the cylinders; therefore, wh'en refitting the pistons, it is not possihle to enter the rods from the top "of the bores, and it may he difficult also to enter the pistons from beneath, owing to the difficulty of compressing the rings. The job can, he done quite readily, however, by entering the pistons from beneath without the rings and passing them upward so that the ring grooves stand up above the top fa.ce of the bloek. The rings are then fitted and | it is an easy matter to compress them whilst the piston is pushed downward, after which it can be drawn down still further until the big-end can be engaged with the crankpin and the bearing cap fitted in the ordinary way.
