EASIER JACKING.
Considerahle time is spent in turning by means of the tommy-bar the handle of the jack usually found in th'e tool kit of a light car. A much quicker method; is to adapt the handle to fit the wheel-brace in th'e following fashion: — The end of the handle is turned or filed down to take a 3-8th' inch Whitworth thread on which a 3-8th inch nut can be screwed. • If the handle has a tommy-bar permanently fixed in place, this should he previously cut off. The nut is then fixed finally by means of a l-16th incb pin passing through it and the threaded part of the handle. If a set of taps and dies is not available, the end of the handle may he left plain and the nut riveted on, after which it is fixed With. a pin.
