MOTOR BREACHES

YARIETY OF CASES COME UP FOR DECISION. FINES INFLICTED. . A variety of breaches of the bylaws and motor regulations came before Mr. S. L. Paterson, S.M., at the Rotorua Magistrate's Court yesterday morning. "Fancy Riding." John Fearnely, ch'arged with dangerous driving on June 3, pleaded guilty. Inspector Ford said that defendant was cutting fancy figures on June 3 in Arawa Street to the annoyance of the public. He had previously been warned. Fearnley said it was not his own machine and he had not the same control over it as his own. He had held a license for four year,s and had no endorsement. Fined £1 and 10s costs. Unregistered Car. James Salisbury, who did not apP'ear, but for whom a lawyer appeared, was fined 10s and 13s costs for failing to register his car. Old Number Plates. George Hampson, who on June 2 drove a car in Rotorua with his' old number plates, was fined 10s and costs 10s. Unregistered Bus. The Rotorua Bus Company pleaded guilty to failing to register a bus on June 3. Inspector Ford said that the company was running a bus and picking up passengers on June 3, the bus still bearing the old number plates. The department took a serious view of the case, since the passengers were noi covered by third party risk. A. Smith stated that his company had had to put on an extra bus to go to Mourea that day and could not register it as it was a holiday and the Post Office was closed. The bus was only used that day and| was not registered. Fined £2 and 10s costs. Unlighted Cycle. Riehard Johnston, charged with riding an unlighted cycle on the Ngongotaha Road, was fined 10s and costs 10s. Cycling on Footpath. Rex Lewis, who rode his cycle on the footpath in Haupapa St., was fined 5s and 10s costs. Inspector Ford said that there was a "school there and warning seem to do no good. Overloaded Lorries. J. A. H, Bell (Mr. Potter) pleaded guilty to breaches of the'Heavy Traffic Regulations. Mr. E. Roe said that Bell had loads on his lorry over the licensed 'limit. In one case where the license was 4i tons he had 5 tons 8cwt and in anothei 5 tons 9cwt. 1 Mr. Potter said that Bell had bought a job lot of timber and had not been able to estimate its weight corrcetly. Fine^ totalling £6 10s and £1 10s. Costs were inflicted.
