PEPPER THKOWN INTO WOMAN'S FACE STRUCK WITH IRON BAR

Wellington, Friday. Suffering from a contusea w'ouna of the scalp, shock, and eye injuries. caused by having pepper thrown ' in her face, Mrs. M. E. Levy, of Richmond Street, Petone, was taken to hospital from the Petone police station shortly after one o'clock this morning. It is understood Mrs. Levy was assaulted at her home. It appears that she returned home late last night, and found a man inside her house. Pepper was thrown in her eye's, and she- was struck on the head with an iron bar. Tho man decamped without talcing anything. She lives alone in the* house. Her condition is not regarded as serious.
