on trentham course MACHINE RECORDS SALE iOiF TICKETS IN WIN POOL .DESIGNED IN NEW ZEALAND

-By Telegraph — Copyright).

Wellington, Thursday. Patrons of the Wellington Racing Cluh's steeplecha.se meeting next niorith will be provided with the" most up-to-date system of wagering yet pla'ced before the racing public in the Dominion. "" " ; " v The win investors will have the' odds of their horses recorded for "them, while the betting is in progress. The "existing electrical dnstaXtatdons in New Zealand have been designed to reeord( and indicate the win pool only, but the new set of machinery has been designed and installed at Trentham to record the sale of tickets in the win pool. This installation consists of 24 sdd_ ihg. units record/ing the number of win tickets on each horse. Electrically connected to these adding units, are a' number of ticket-issuing machines. These 'also operate a master unit, which' records in the public view the gross total of tickets in the pool. The intriguing part of the scheme is that the machine, as well as recording the gross total, has an indieator which records the amount available in the pool after the various rneasures of taxation have been deducted. The operator with the chart is in. communication with the indicator h'ouse so that the investors will be continuously informed what each horse is paying for a straight out win. The whole machinery, with the exception of the meters, was made in New Zealand. The machinery is wholly designed by Mr. Saggers, who for , the past seven years has been in charge of the electric totalisator at Trentham.
