WILL MAKE NO AGREEMENTS AFFECTING DOMESTIC RECOVERY STABILISATION PROPOSALS
— By Telegraph — Copyright).
Rec. June 20, 7.50 p.m. New Yorfe, June 19. The New York Times Washington correspondent says that there is every reason to believe that Mr. Roose.velt's administration is deterinined to maintain its standstill attitude toward foreign affairs pending definite intimation as to how the domestic re^covery programme will function. Treasury officials reiterated that the Government will not participate in any "experimental emergency" stabilisation proposals, while even the comparatively mild teil per cent. tariff reduction unofiicially proposed by the American delegates in London, has met widespread disfavour. Considerable significaiice is attached to the official announcement that Professor Morley is to sail for London on Wednesday. He will not serve as a delegate, but will give Mr. Hull mformation on the trend ,of events at home, which is interpreted to mean that he would explain the necessity of exerting caution in any internati'onal agreement tending to retard domestic recovery.
