Inspection of Whaka Sewerage The Mayor (Mr. T. Jackson), Crs. 0. H. Coleman (chairman) and L. J. Bayfeild of the Drainage Committee of the Rotorua Borough Couneil paid a visit of inspection in company with the drainage engineer, Mr. F. J. Lenihan to the Whaka sewerage scheme yesterday morning. Their investigations will be the subject of a

report to the council to-night. Dental Operations It was reported to the annual meeting of the Rotorua Dental' Clinic Committee on Monday evening that since the commencement of the scheme, treatment at the Rotorua Primary School had been practically

completed and a start maae wiwi .u^ treatment of pupils attending at Convent and Oturoa. During April 203 operations, including 23 Convent and six Oturoa admissions had j been perf ormed and in May the op- j erations totalled 237, including ^ 9 Convent and four Oturoa pupils. Twenty-six re-examinations had also been made during the month. The Ngongotaha Valley School is to be invited to participate in the scheme.

Singapore Air Force Base In the report of the address given by Mr. F. Blackwood Sewell at the Ro tary Club on Monday, the Royal Air Force base at Singapore was madvertently ref erred to as the big comme-rcial aerodrome." The R.A.F. strength in Singapore at present is a squadron of Southampton flying boats nn rl nnp. of Hawker Horsley bombers

in all about 15 machines. The aerodrome is used by commercial and private aircraft pending the completion of the Government landing ground at the Kallang Basin, about _two miles from the centre of the city. King George V. Hospital In company with representatives of the Waikato Hospital Board and the Rotorua representative on the board (Mr. J. Banks) , the Director-General of Health (Dr. M. H. Watt) together with the secretary to the Department (Mr. A. Von Keisenherg) will inspect the King George V. Hospital site today. At the last meeting of the board it was decided to invite the DirectorGeneral to visit the hospital and discuss the position which has arisen in connection with the proposed transf er of the administration of the institution from the Health Department to the Waikato Hospital Board. Cost of Treatment During the past twelve months the receipts of the Rotorua Dental Clinic have amounted to £102. After providing for the cost of maintenance and cleaning and the subsidy on the nurse's salary a balance of £9 11s 8d was the result of the year s working.

In addition there is an amoura oi zto 5s held by the committee as a sinking fund for building purposes. The committee decided at Monday's meet- ^ ing to purchase a new steriliser at a cost of £9 7s 6d. Commercial Traveller's Concert At a meeting of the Rotorua Dental Clinic Committee held on Monday evening the organiser of ^ the Auckland Commercial Travellers Association. Mr. H. G. Watts, attended for the purpose of making arrangements for a concert to be given m Rotorua by his association's concert party for the henefit of the clinic funds. Following a full discussion, the date of the concert was fixed as Friday, September 22, and special sub-committees are to be set up by the Dental Clinic Committee to complete arrangements. Fourteen artists will participate in the concert.

Saturday's Cycle Race On Saturday afternoon next the Rotorua Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club will hold a road cycle race on the usual course covering a distance of 251 miles. Following are the entries and handicaps of riders: — L. Savage (ser), N. Howe, R. Hampton (Imin.), S. Howe, S. Head (45secs.) , A. H. Gregg (Ilmin.), R. Melton, A. Beckett (2min. 15sec.)
