MAJESTIC THEATRE

- TO-DAY AND TO-NIGHT. Henry Hagen, the- night before his wedding, becomes dnvolved with Tony, a pretty cabaret star, by whom he is embraeed on Victoria Station, a week later beneath the eagle eyes of his mother-in-law, Mrs. Trout, who in•sists on taking Tony to meet her dauighter: Henry escapes and co-opts the help of his p'al, Eustace, whose valet, Joy, suggests that Henry should possess a double, inventing a "Captain Dinkley," residing at his master's country cottage at Cherry Hatch, for that purposfe. Mrs. Trout hastens thence, bearing -with her her long-sufferintg hushand, her daughter and the unfortunate actress. Arriving on the scene they findHenry, as the "Captain" already installed. Still the old lady is not convinced and it is left to Joy to per- I suade her that Dinkley and her son-in-law are1 not one and the same- person. This he does in an ingenious manner. "His Wife's Mother," the title of this delightful farce, was directed by Harry Hughes, and Cus McNaughton is ihe star in the role of the able valet. Another popular comedian in Jerry Varno makes a big personal hit as Henry, alias Captain Dinkley, and Marion Dawson, the capable Rochdale comediienne, plays the title role.
