medals presented INVESTITURE HELD AT ' ROTORUA HIGH > . SCHOOL COLONEL DUIGAN ATTENDS A presentation of medals to members of the Rotorua High School Cadet Company, who last year won the Weekly Press- Shield for the third year iii succession, was made yesterday by- Colonel J. E. Duigan, D.S.O., Officer commanding, Northern Comniand. Accompanied by the; chairman of .the board, Mr. R. B. Nesbitt, the h'eadmaster, Mr. W. G. Harwood, and Lieut. Innes, of Paeroa, Colonel Duigan witnessed the fall-in of the company before making the presentation. Owing to the coldness of, the day, a march past was not held. > Addressing the assembled company Colonel Duigan said he was pleased to present the, medals to members of the company for the third successive year in which they had won the sliield. ' "This is an excellent; record and you have done extra well. The company is very steady and welDup to the standard of the best units: which we have in Auckland. I hope you will continue to keep up this very high standard," continued Colonel Duigan. Congratulating Lieut. R. G. Webb and S.S.M. W. Bates on their success in coaching the team, Colonel Duigan said. that to them must go a great deal of the credit in winning the shield and he hoped that the school would not let this go easily in fol- . lowing competitions. Colonel Duigan then individually invested the following members of the company with the medals which they had won. Sergeant W. Higgins, Corporal G. B'rooker, Buglar C. A. Frost, Cadets L. McCormick, R. B. Dawson, T. Dowling, E. Vernall, C. Wylie, M. Marks, R. Ashby.
