- Mr. Frank Langstone, M.P. for Waimarino, has had a, lifelong conneetion with.thg, Labour anovement in Neiv. Zealaad,! and through memhership of various trades unions and the -Labour Party, has rendered y eoman serviee in building- it up> during the last tw;en.ty-five years. He first camte into publie prominence in;1922 when he was elected to Parliament by* the Waimarino constitueney. Defeated in the "Coatss and Confidenee" election in 1925, he rewon the seat in 1928 Ln a three-eomered eontest. , At the general election in 1931, ,he greatly improved his position in tha constitueney, b,eing re-elected with a mlajority of 591 in a straight fight with a Coialition candfldate. Untiring constitueney work, a never failing cheery hura our, and great diligence in aequiring information have combined to maka him deservedly popular in a large 'and difficult electorate in whieh the agricultural and timber industries predominate. Mr. Langstone is one of the outstanding' figures in the present Parliament, his speaches on financial queStions, in whieh he specialises, being always .followed v/ith keen attention hy jnemhers of all parties. At the last ,'annual eonf erenoa of the Labour Party, Mr., Langstone was elected to the National Presidency of the Labour Party. He is now delivering a ?eries of -addresses on tha Labour Party's policy on the East Coast and the Bay of Plenty. A clear and vigorous speaker, he is eertain to interest his audienees.
