RESCUE MENTAL PATiENT

Greymouth, Thursday. Making good his escape from the Greymouth Hospital on Monday, a mental inmate headed for the lagpon at the rear of the hpspital and plunged , into lt, evid'ently intending suicide. He would have achieved his object, but for the courageous action of Sis.ter A. Becker and Nurse G. V. O'Connor, who followed immediately, and with difficulty rescued the man. Drs. Bird and' Bennett, hpnorary medical officers, reported their action to the boar-d, expressing appreciation of their plucky act. It was also the subject of a laudatory resclutiori at the hoard's meeting this evening.
