CONSTRUCTION OF ROAD TO OPEN UP FIORD LAND A S'OUTHLAND PROJECT

Invercargill, Thursday The construction of a road froip Tuatapere round the coast to Puysegur Point and from there throUgh the Sounds to Milford Sound, eventually joining up with the West Coast at* Jackson's Bay, was a suggestion plaeed before the executive of the Southland League this evening, in a letter from Mr. R. A. Anderson, C.M.G. There was general agreement on the far reaching possibility of the vasf project, which the president of the League, Mr. W. Hinchey, roughly estimated would cost £1,000,000. A eommittee was set up to study the scheme from the poiut of view of its practicability and the cost, and tq discuss it with Mr. Anderson, and if possible the Minister of Public Works,
