FIRST MATE AWARDED BRONZE MEDAL FOR GALLANTRY

Rec June 15. London, June 14. The King has awarded a. bronze medal for g'allantry in saving life, to Jarnes William Scott, first mate of the Melanesian Mission steamer, Southern Cross, which was wrecked at Aneityum Island during a severe storm in October of last ye'ar. Mr. Scott swam ashore with a line, despite the danger from storms, daxkness and sharks, enabling the rescue ,f the crew.
