A PRETTY WEDDING ARMSTRONG-BAXTER

An exceptionally pretty wedding was celebrated at Knox Presbyterian Church, Whakatane, at 3 o'clock on Wednesday afternoon, when Anne Sutherland Baxter, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Baxter, of Simpkin Street, Whakatane, was ■ married to Joseph Henry Armstrong, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. Armstrong, of Cambridge. The Rev. H. J. Lilburn officiated at the ceremony and Miss Lynda Suth? erland, friend of the bride, presided at the organ. The church was tastefully decorated by friends of the bride, who was given away by her father, and looked charming in a graceful gown of ivory angel skin lace over satin fashioned on modish slim fitting lines, and coatee with puffed sleeves, tight fitting at the wrist. Her veil of Brussels lace, was held in place by a wreath of oranga blossom, and gathered at the nape of the neck to fall away in a train. She carried a beautiful bouquet of white roses, maiden hair fern, and real white heather which was a unique feature as it was sent all the way from S'cotland for the occasion. The , bridesmaids, Miss May Baxter, sister of the bride, and Miss Nancy Armstrong, sister of the bridegroom, looked pictureSque and graceful in their frocks of primrose and cornflower blue printed silk taffeta, worn off the shoulders in early Victorian fashion and made with • cape sleeves and draped skirts. Dainty floral caps were worn and both maids carried muffs to tone with their frocks. Little June Baxter, niece of the bride made a dainty little flower girl and looked sweet in a pale green organdie Victorian frock and Juliet cap to match. Mrs. J. T. Connolly, Whakatane, was best man, and Mr. J. Howarth, Cambridge, groomsman. Mrs. W. J. Baxter, mother of the bride, wore a wine marocain frock with hat to tone and f ox fur, and carried a bouquet of golden chrysanthemums and heather to tone with the frock. Mrs. S. Armstrong, mother ■ of the bridegroom wore. nut brown marocain and hat to tone. Her bouquet was autumn tinted chrysanthemums. The wedding breakfast and reception were afterward held in the Grand Tearooms. Among the guests were : — Mr. and Mrs. S. Armstrong Cambridge), J. Howarth (Cambridge), H. Wing (Te Awamutu) , R. Holmes; Misses J. and V. Hamilton, L. Hyde, M. Flowers, B. Wilson, G. Cooper, R. Galloway, M. Whiteside. F. Bell, E. List, N. Schofield, H. Chamberlain, B, Guest, K. Guest, M. Butler, D. Allan, I. Allan and V. Hyland. Messrs. G. Whillans (Wanganui), R. Butler, W. Steele, S. Armstrong, C. Duncan, J. Baxter, P. Sisam, A. Darville, K. Brabant, D. Allan, F. Waugh, R. Ferry and C. Skeets (Dannevirke) . The happy couple departed on their honeymoon with the bride wear-] ing a jumper suit in' toning's of brick with coat and hat to match.
