£750,000 FOR CHARITIES

More than £750,000, was left to charities in London, Edinburgh, Berlin, and other places by the will of Lady Seaforth, of Brahan, Rosssliire, which was recently lodged in Edinburgh. Lady Seaforth, " who died at her London home last February, aged 70, was the widow of Baron Seaforth and daughter of the late Mr. Edward Stienkopff, a former proprietor of the "St. James's Gazette." Mr. Steinkopff left an estate valued at £1,247,022. The will, dated June 1931, contained a list of bequests from money and property in a trust under her father's will, of which Lady Seaforth had the appointment. Under this head were bequeathed: £267,000, German Red Cross, Berlin; £60,000, Seaforth Sanatorium, Brahan; £30,000, Dr. Barnardo's Homes; £20,000, London Hospital, £20,000, Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh.
