WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
WAI PJ AMA BRANGLI A meeting of the Waimana Women's Institute was held in the Waimana Hall on Tuesday, June 6, when Mrs. Woolfield presided over a large attendance of members. The remits for the forthcoming federation meeting to be held in Christchurch next month were discussed and Mrs. Black was appointed a delegate to the eonference. It was decided to hold a dance shortly, the proceeds to go to aid the poor and needy. Miss Fleming gave an interesting demonstration on the making of seagrass stools and Mesdames F. and I. Savage gave an amusing sketch. The competition "Best Knitte/d Artiele," brought forth a ' great display of entries, the winners being Mrs. Hewitt and Miss Wardlaw, who tied for first prize. It was decided that in future the institute meetings be held on the first Wednesday of each month instead of Tuesday as at present. The hostesses were Mesdames Mitchell, H. Wardlaw, Stevenson and Miss Wardlaw.
