TENNIS DANCE
SEASON CONCLUDES JOLLY EVENING AT MAJESTIC BALL. ROOM PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES The club colours of blue and gold together with multi-coloured streamers, balloons, and nikau palms featured prominently in the decorations at the Majestic Ballroom on Wednesday evening on the occasion of the annual ball of the Rotorua Lawn Tennis Club. Despite the unfavourable weather conditions that prevailed, a large number of dancers attended, and the gay ahd popular music of Ep^ Shalfoon and his Melody Boys kept all inSpired with unflagging energy to the last dance. Jolly novelty dances were played at intervals throughout the programme and were entered into with great zest by all the dancers. During the evening the club captain, Mr. E. G. Guy, in the unavoidable absence of the patron, Dr. S. H. Hay, presented the prizes to the members who had been successful in the club competitions throughout the past season. In a short speech Mr. Guy congratulated the winners and made reference to the excellent and energetic work done by the secretary, Mr. A. J. Harron. A very dainty supper catered for by Mrs. W. Sparkes, was served in the supper rooms, which were bright with -autumn flowers and streamers in the club colours. Among the ladies' committee present were: — Mrs. E. G. Guy, who wore black chiffon velvet, Mrs. E. Crawford, old gold crushed velvet; Miss H. Dannefaerd, chinese red and biege floral georgette; Miss H. Dawson, parchment organdie relieved with cherry red velvet capette. Others present included, Mrs. A. G. Holland, who was in black georgette; Mrs. F. Stanier, china blue lace; Mrs. W. L. Richards, black satin and brocade coatee; Mrs. Blades Thorne, eau de nil lace; Mrs. N. Smith, beige and orange lace; Miss M. Cooney, rose pink floral net; Miss J. Isdale, midnight blue faille; Miss K. Mears (Hamilton), floral taffeta and gold lame cape; Miss R. Campny, briar rose georgette; Miss J. Gilbertson, ivory crinkle velvet; Miss M. Wright (Wellington), cameo pink taffeta and georgette; Miss M. Reddy, flame crinkle crepe; Miss B. Vaughan, navy hailstone muslin; Miss S. Tapp (Hamilton), ivory satin beaute; Miss J. Bertram, Indian red panne velvet; Miss P. McLean (Auckland) floral organdie; Miss V. Snell, primrose flat crepe; Miss V. Steele, powder blue floral georgette; Miss C. Moore, amethyst blue crinkle crepe; Miss D. Griffiths, old gold crinkle crepe; Miss V. Holland, apple green organdie; Miss J. Dalgleish, deep green panne velvet; Miss O Beamish, ivory panne velvet; Miss O. Beamish, ivory panne velvet; Miss L. Downey, cream spotted net } Miss R. Manson, sunset satin; Miss J.
