The Qov«rnment metooroipplat i»sued the following weather report and forecast laet hight: — ^ General situation: A rather deep depression is centred over southern Otago, and another covers the southern Tasman, pressure is rising in eastern Tasman. Forecast: Winds easterly at first in the far 'north, but northerly to westerly prevailing, moderate to strong generally, in places Teaching gale force. _r Weather: Changeable and squally with intermittent rain in most districts, some heavy falls likely in Westland and Otago, snow the high levels of the South Island. Temperatures cooler. Following are the barometer, maxlmum and minimum thermompter, sunshine, and rainfall rea'dihgs reoorded at the Government Observation Sta> tion by the Rotorua Tourist Department for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. ye«terday.
