Rec. May 29, 11.35 p.m. Yancouver, May 29. Kansas City has made new history in kidnapping. It was written by a gang, who kidnapped the socially prominent daughter of a city manager. They paid h'er extreme courtesy during her 17 hours detention before her father willingly paid the 30,000 dollars ransom. Newspapers refrained from mentioning the kidnapping, while the father of th'e 26 year old girl, Mary McElroy, carried on negotiations with the gang as if he were conducting business transaetions. True to its promise the gang freed the girl two hours after receiving the cash at the gate of club house. "They were very polite and attenI tive," said the girl. "They gave me | roses and also magazines to read. and placed the radio in the basement, also an electric fan and an easy chair and a comfortable bed, whereon was spread elean linen. They even showed me how to work a machine gun. I learned a good deal about gangsters." They- said: "You have a.wonderful father. He is doing a fine job tryifigto place meh in work, but why should men work for two dollars a day.?! . When she'was. taken from th'e prison basement, the' leader of the gangpraised her behaviour arid saidt he wopld recommend her as a victim for o$ie'r kidnappefs.
