ngAti whakaue viE#. donors not in favour of removal of the . hospital SPECIAL MEETING " HELD By a series of resolntions a meeting of Ngati Whakaue, at Tamatekapua last week, presided over by Te Naera te Houkotuku, recorded its attitude in hespect to the proposed change of control of King George V . Hospital at Rotorua as f ollows :— (1) That regret be expressed that the Government has;foupd it.necessary to relinquish control. of all hospitals now under ihe Health . Department inclpdihg King George V. Hpspitai in Rotorua as a matter of policy. (2) That this meeting places on record its very nigh appreciatipn of the efficient, capable' and kindly manner ih which Dr. Lewjs, superintendent, the matron and the whole of their staff have served the many requirements of the patients admitte.d into King George V. Hospital. (3) That every faeility, iiiformation and assistance be given to the Waikato Hospital Board if such is required by the board for the establishment of friendly relations in their diffieult task of taking over the administration of hospital matter s in an important town such as Rotorua, and " the district of which it is the natural centre. • ,(4) That Ngati Whakaue, as donors of the Pukeroa Reserve, respectfully recommend the Government to agree to offer a lease of a portion of Pukeroa to the Waikato Hospital Board at a peppercorn rental on snch terms and conditions as may be mutually arranged between the Crown,' ™ the Waikato Hospital Board and Ngati Whakaue. (5) That it be a recommendation to the Crown and the Waikato Hospital Board that the idea of selecting another site for the erection of a hospital to replace King George V. Hospital be def erred until the economic position has improved so as to save capital expenditure. (6) That this meeting is of the opinion that the present buildings on Pukeroa could he much reduced^ in size and made more compact without loss of efficiency, comfort or working arrangements. (7) That all unused buildings on Pukeroa HUI be sold and the ■funds from such saies devoted to the requirements of the hospital. (8) That the present status and capacity of King George V. Hospital to serve the needs of the. disr trict be not impaired because of change of control. .
