TO-NIGHT. Janet Gaynor and Charles Farrell in "Tess of the Storm Country" make their bow to local audiences to-night at the Majestic Theatre. Adapted from the no.vel by Grace ■ Miller White and the dramatisation by Rupert Hughes, "Tess" is said to offer plenty of thrilling moments •along with its vivid romance. The ' heroine is- the daughter of an old seacaptain \£ho decides she is getting too old to continue cruising around with him. They accordingly establish themselves in a little cottage on the Maine coast, from which' they are summarily ejected by a crusty -old millionaire who lays claim to the property. When Tess rescues a young man from drowning and then discovers that he is the millionaire's son, she goes beresrk — much to his amuse•ment. The boy wins her reluctant admiration, however, when he helps her after her father has been accused and convicted on a false murder charge following the killing of a game warden. How the captain is finally freed, Tess' daring rescue of the millionaire's daughter when she tries 'o drown herself on finding she is going to have .a fatherless baby, the misunderstandings that arise between Tess and the boy as a result, the boy's battle with a fisherman and the final surprise in the ending, are said to form a series of dramatic moments unique in Gaynor-Farrell pictures.
