the kerr trial NURSE FOUND pUILTY AND REMANDED FOR • ' SENTENCE JURY'S QUICK DECISION

Auckland, Friday. At fhe third trial of Nurse Elspeth Kerr, the jury returned a verdict of guilty on all counts. Mr. Justice Herdman immediately remanded the prisoner for sentence until tomorrow. The charges against Nurse Kerr, whp is 46 years of age, were that on April 8/ 10 and 16 she administered poison, veronal, to her eight year old foster daughter, Betty Kerr, with intent to injui-e her, so that her life was in danger. The case was heard in the Police Court last July, and did not reach trial in the Supi'eme Court until March. In that month Nurse Kerr had two trials, one lasting eight days and the second for five days. In each case the jury failed to agree.' The jury returned to-day after an absence of ohe hour and 10 minutes. Some demonstration of surprise from the back of the' court was promptly suppressed. ' • In'diseharging the jury, the Judge said:: "I have to thank you fpr your i services. You have been engaged upon a difficult and important ~case. You will be relieved of further service' on the jury for three years."
