"Letty Lynton," sensational drama of modern society and its reckless diversions, with Joan Crawford and Robert Montgomery teamed in the principal roles, is the attnaetion opening on Saturday, June 3, at the Majestic Theatre. Adapted from Marie Belloe Lowndes' famous novel, the film presents an amazing picture of modern life. Its locales range from the colourful tropic charm of South America to the night life of New York with a spectacular sequence played on a great ocean liner. The story is that of an heiress whose preoecupation with the new "f eminine freedom" entangles her in a dangerous affair with an ardent South American lover. When she ultimately leaves him for her true love she is followed by her former lover and is subsequently involved in a sensational scandal which results in the South American's death with all fingers pomting to her as the murderess. The outcome makes for an intriguing drama of the first order, giving both Miss Crawford and Montgomery every opportunity for effective portrayals. Among the film's high-powered episodes are the. dramatic scene in which the girl attempts to break off relaI tions with the ruthless South American, the sensational discovery of his I death in a New York hotel, the battle 1 of wits in the district attorney's office j and the dramatic clash in the girl's : home.
