Diving head first from an Air Force bomber at a height of 27,000 feet fL parachutist, John Tranum, is believed' to have created a world's record at Necheravon, falling like a stone for 18,000 feet before ex> panding his parachute and thereafter drifting for five miles, narrowly esc^ping a tree in landing. The previous record (15000 ft) was held by an American.
