Rates — or Derating? The Wairoa Harbour Board wrote to the Opotiki Borough Council on Tuesday with refer.ence to the difficulties they were experiencing in colleeting rates and suggesting that the Opotiki Borough Council might send two delegates to a meeting at Wairoa to discuss the possibility of persuading the Government to take some action with regard to the collection of rates, especially on lands under Crown mortgages. The Manukau County Council wrote on the same matter, suggesting that concerted action on the part of local bodies would he desirahle. Both letters were received.
