HENDREN ADOPTS SPECIAL HEADGEAR AT LORDS

SCATHING COMMENT (Rec. May 24.) London, May 24. Playing for M.C.C. against the West Indies Hendren in the second innings wore his protective cap made of cloth, liqed with rubber, and with peaks covering his ears, when hatting against the West Indies. He says he will only wear it against Harwood, Bowes and Constantine, because the others are insufficiently fast. The newspapers scathingly comment on Hendren's "eccentric contraption" and "sinister looking affair." The Sketch says : " 'Patsy' would be well advised to leave his ridiculous headgear in the pavilion, or, better still, send it to Australia."
