Rec. May 24, 8.15 p.m. 1 London, May 24. Important changes in the Briiish navy policy are foreshadowed by the Daily Telegraph's naval" corrSsp'ondent, Mr. Hector Bywater. Closer cooperation with the Dominions i§ being ohtained, the first fruits of which may he the strengthening of the Royal Australian Navy. The whole question of -warship design is undergoing review. The replacement at the proper time of obsolqte battleships is receiving special attention. The training fleet, in future, will be conducted on more practical Jines, demanding an increase in quotas for fuel for practice and ■ammunition. The tendency to over-specialisation is being checked and 'special officers will, in future, be required to take their share of deck duty. Tentative plans will be drafted giving all young officers and seamen a course of training in small ships, such as destroyers before sending them to the battle fleet. It is believed that this will raise the navy standard of seamanship'.
