VALUABLE'BATTERY PLANT DESTRQYEB AT THAMES

Thames, Saturday. Fire which broke out at 4 o'clock this morning destroyed the battery and treatment plant of the recentlyformed Monowai Gold, Copper and Uead Mines, Ltd., at Waiomo. It is thought that the outbreak started in the coal bunker. The battery was completed about three years ago at a cost of between £20,000 and £30,000. The watchman -reports that at 2.30 a.m. everything was safe. At 4 a.m. the building- was discovered to be in fiames, but as no Avater was available nothing could be done to save the building and plant. It is understood that the building ' was insnred, but the amount is not available.
