The attendance at the show up-to Tuesday night was ahead of last year and given a coptinuance of fine weather it is anticipated that last year's figures will be exceeded. Thursday's Concert On Thursday a concert was held, 'the programme being: — Overture, Uarnival songs selection by Boys' .'band; song and chorus, Jack Garaway and six girls (Mrs. Coulter) ; dance, .•Miss Keetley's seven girls (Mrs. Smedley) ; dialogue, Jack Rand and Eric Thompson; country dance, girl iguides; dialogue, Lottie James and Grace Rand; action song, six girls, (Miss Hobin's pupils; dance, Misses '•P. Smedley, E. Gonnelly, Ray Grose, B. Mylett (Mrs. Smedley) ; ingonia (march), boys' band. All the above items were well pre* /sented and duly appreciated, showing much previous study. Special praise is due to the boys' band consisting of 24 school boys, under the tuition and conductorship of Mr. Fleet- ( wood. Although only nine months !.since the band's inception, these boys (are already trained musicians and give very great promise indeed. Further Prizelist ( Further additions to the prizelist ;are : — Points Prizes President's Challenge Cup, pre'sented by Messrs. Boon and Snllivan, for most points in swedes clases No. 9 and 10, won by L. W. Luxton, Whakatane, 5 points; C. T. S'mitb, 'Thornton, 3 points; Sladden Bros., 3 * points. T. S. Shapley's special prize for most points in classes 11, 12 and 13 (turnips) , was won by L. W. Luxton, Whakatane, 10 points. Cup presented by Mr. F. B. Cutler 'for most points in mangolds, classes 14 to 20 inclusive, was won by J. H. •Foster, Taneatua, 16 points; Chas. Kirk, Whakatane, 2, 12 points. W. W. Smedley's special prize for most points in carrot classes was won by Mrs. J. Rogers, Oropi, Tauranga, 6 points; F. Kirk, Edgecumbe, 2,. 5 points. W. Armstrong and Co.'s challenge cup for most points in agricultural classes 9 to 33 inclusive was won by
F. Kirk, Edgecumbe, 22 points; J. H. Foster, Taneatua, 16 points. Vegetables Whakatane Hardware's trophy for most points in vegetable classes 35 /to 64 inclusive, was won by Whakatane Public Hospital, 14 points; A. E. Gadd, Poroporo, 2, 13 points. Fruit G. R. Kent and Co.'s special prize for most points in fruit classes 65 ■to 76 inclusive was won by C. Hanson, Tauranga, 32 points (won by 20 'points) . Home Cooking Whakatane Meat Co.'s special prize. Exbibitor providing in the v,opinion of tbe judge the most attrac•tive exhibit in the home cooking classes ^was won by Mr. S. F. Miller (iced cake). ! T. Dunderdale's special prize to 'exhibitor scori'ng most points in cooking classes 83 to 113 inclusive, ,was won by Mrs. J. Peebles, Taneatua. Children's Section Boon and Sullivan Luke's Ltd., • prize for most points in school class- ■ es 198, 209, 220 and 227 was won by Maire Berg, Whakatane. W. Jar- ( ret's prize for most points in chil'•dren's cookery classes 248 to 2.54 was won by Iris Leaning, Whakatane, 6 .'points. Several points prizes in the children's section are not yet available, but will be published later.
