STRONQ REPRESENTATION TO WORLD ECONOMIC CONFERENCE LENGTHY SITTING

The names. of the British delegation to the World Economic Conference. were announced in the House of Commons by Mr. Ramsay MacDonald the Prime Minister, as follow ; — • Mr. Ramsay MacDpnald (Prime | Minister), President of the Conference, Mr. Neville • Chamberlain. — Chancellor of the Exchequer. Lord Hailsham, Secretary of State fo.r War. . Sir John Simo.n, Secretary of State for Foreign Alfairs. Mr. J. H. Thomas, Secretary of State for Dominion Alfairs. Sir P. Cunliffe-Lis.ter, Secretary of State for the Colonies. Mr. W. Runciman, President of the ; Board of Trade. Major w. E. Elliot, Minister of Agriculture. Mr. MacDonald added that as President of the Gonferepce he would be unahle to, attend the meetings of the United Kingdom delegation regu- ■ larly and Mr. Neville Chamberlain ' would therefore act as leader of the delegation. The extra cost of holding the conference at London instead of Geneva would be borne by the British Government. Sir John Simon stated today that for this purpose £18,500 had been inc-luded in the Foreign Qffice vote, while the cost of adapting tbe new geological museum building to accommodate the conference was estimated at £7500. Asked whether the conference would sit continuously until its work was completed or adjourn if its task was incomplete to allow the delegates to attend the League Assembly in Septcmber, Mr. MacDonald said that was a matter for the conference itself to decide.
