FAILURE ALLEGED A message received from London ' dated May 18 at 1.30 p.m. yesterday ! said: "The Daily Mail publishes a message from North India stating that Mr. Hugh Ruttledge, accompanied by Messrs Green, Broakiebank j . and Wood Johnson made an attempt i to reach the summit of Everqst, but failed. ' j A f ormer message stated that the party had established a eamp at an altitude of 21,000 feet, (Everest's l height is 29,002 feet above the sea j level) on May 5. There was then ! much snow in the glacier trough and violent wind on the glacier itself."
