The position of the parties at 4.30 this morning was as follows: — Coalitionists .... .... 105 Independents 7 Labour .... 2 The Independents include two Roosites and two Natal Home Rulers and two Labour. Mr. Gerry Bouwr, the well-known racing motorist is one of the Roosites returned for Boksberg. Colonel Cresswell, former Minister of Labour and Defence, retained his' seat, winning Valeville, in a hot three cornered contest. Dr. Reitz, a supporter of Mr. T. J. j Roos and a broth'er of the Minister of ' Landd defeated Mr. H. W. Sampson, | ex-Minister of Post and Telegraphs. The Wynbei-g suhurb of Capetown supplied a surprise by returning Sir Joseph Robinson, ia son of the deceased miniiig: magnate, who is not attached to any party. Mr. Madeley retained the Benoni seat. Mr. McArthur captured Umbilo for Labour. Mr. Greyville was returned for Darbyshire. He is the first Home |R,ule mernher. Port Elizabeth returned Mr. Hii-sch, an Independent and a prominent foothaller. .
