In the last race all three placed horses, Wee Machine, Guid Hairst and Homeward are due to appear on Saturday. How They Ran Golden Huia started the routing of backers by winning the Innovation Handicap and paying just on two score to the five straightout backers who invested on her. Waskasu was the first to strike a gait, the favourite Kuini failing to settle down at all. Waskasu led out from Colleen Murphy and Autumn Lu but the leader went up and lost a lot of his lead. However he still had a slight advantage of Colleen Murphy, Autumn Lu and Golden Eagle after six furlongs. Colleen Murphy then broke and Golden Eagle led at the turn until Golden Huia put in an appearance and won. Golden Eagle beat the fast-finishing Nelson Pirate and Waskasu. Autumn Lu, Kuini and Mattie Herbilwyn followed in that order. DEVONPORT HANDICAP. 14 miles; limit 3.6. 10/10— CHANCELLOR, limit (F. Smith) -1 6/ 6— CIMARRON, 48yds. (I. Our Summer went away fast and led Tinokaka, Homebrew, Jester and Ariel Bell for a couple of furlongs. Jester then took up the running past the stand and the order was Jester, Our Summer, Homebrew, Ariel Bell and Chancellor.
