TWO NEW CAND1DATES OFFERING THEIR SERVICES ' The election for parents' represeni tatives on the Rotorua High School Board is now in full swing, the ballot papers having been sent out to L the parents. There are five candij dates for the three seats and the caI reers of the sitting candidates have [ already been dealt with in previous issues. There are two new aspirants ;Mr. A. G. Holland and .Mr. H. J. I-Iardie. Mr. H. J. Hardie ! Mr. H. J. Hardie is a New Zealander by birth, having been born in Wellington; later his family moved to Petone where he attended the State school. Choosing electrical engineerfing as a profession, he attended the Petone Technical School and later the ■Technical College at Wellington. He joined the staff of the Wellington City Council Electricity Department /and thence went to the Gisborne Bor- | ough Council. He then joined the j Public Works Department and was (•-one of the staff in the harnessing of j'Lake Coleridge which supplies the i1 city of Christchurch with power. It | was from that position that he came [ to Rotorua where he is at present at- \ tached to the Tourist Department staff. He has been a member of the j Rotorua Rotary Club for a number of | years and an associate member of I the Borough Publicity and Amuse- ' ment Committee. I Mr. Hardie has interested himself :'in public service affairs and is the /president of the local branch of the Public Service Association. He is an /associate member of the Institute of Electrical Engineers, London (A.M. I.E.E.). Mr. A. G. Holland Having recently retired from the position of judge of the Native Land Court, Mr. A. G. Holland is welllcnown both to Maori and Pakeha in Rotorua. He is keenly interested in sport of all descriptions and is an indefatigable follower of the Rugby code being no mean exponent himself in his younger days. To-day he is on the Rotorua Rugby Union and is president of the Rotorua Referees' ' Association, a position he has held for some years. "Before coming to Rotorua he residad in Auckland and occupied official positions in the Native Land Court.
