KEEN COMPETITION Rec. May i0. i ' London, May 9. At the wool saies, which opened to-day, 9337 bales were catalogued 'ineluding 4039 of New Zealand. About 4472 bales were sold. There was a poor selection of merinos, hut a representative offer/ing of crossbreds. A crowded attendance of buyers 'excited general competition, the Home trade bidding keenly for crossbreds. Prices advanced compared with the [March closing rate as under. Merinos: GreasyJZi to 10 per cent; seoureds, 7S per cent. Crossbreds: Fine 71 to 10 per cent; medium 7| per cent; coarse 5 per cent. Slipes: Five to 10 per cent. New Zealand Clips: Greasy crossbreds, "s.j.c." top price, 8|d, average 7|d; scoured halfbred "Barrosa," 17|d and 15Sd; halfbred lamb slipe, "Belfast," llfd and 11 5-8d.
