MAJESTIC THEATRE
TO-NIGHT. "Onee in a Lifetime" is not only a pdctur.e which shows dn an intensely interesting fashion the reputed inner : workings of the Hollywood film studios; it is one of the most riotously funny comedies ever to come to the local screen. Sidney Fox is a charming little figur,e as the' screen-struck Susan Walker, and Jack Oakie is perfect as the small-timea vaudeville actor who, in spite .of Shis "dumbness," is finally a,cclaimed as the outstanding .genius of Hollywood. The cast of principal players is a long one, and all do.good work in helping to make "Once in a Lifetime" a virtual comedy gem. Amon'g these may be mentioned Aline MacMahon, Russell Hopton, Zasu Pitts, Louise Fazenda, Onslow Stevens, .Gregory Ratoff and Margaret Lindsey. The story begins in New York City with the three members of a smalltime vadueville team hastening to Hollywood eoincident with the advent of the talkies, intent on securing some of the large and easily ohtained .salari.es being paid out by a confused industry in the throes of a great chanjge. They are engaged to conduct a school of eloeution within the Glogauer studio, and the succession of fortunate blunderS committed by the "dumb" member of the trio (played by Jack Oakie) eventually raise all to positions of power in the film industry. In injecting many delightfully humorous "touches" into the story of "Once in a Lifetime," Direetor Russell Mack has added much to the enjoyment of the picture. The settings, laid mainly within a studio, are garish and fantastic, and match perfectiy the satirieal mood of the story. You will not find a dull moment in "Once in a Lifetime." You will learn many inside seerets of studio life, and you will be vastly amused by the pdeture.
