Rec. May 4, 11 p.m. Canberra, May 4. Interest payments by the Commonwealth in New Yorlt were made in paper currency, pending an inquiry in regard to the legal position resulting from the United States abandonment of the gold standard. The Commonwealth has been advised that paper currency is sufficient, although it is reported that at least two holders of coupons demanded payment in gold.
