IRISH FREE STATE "CONFESS NO ALLEGIANCE TO A FOREIGN KING" BILL PASSES DAIL

— By Telegraph — Copyright).

( (Rec. May 4.) Dublin, May 3. The Dail Eireann passed the bill to abolish the oath of allegiance by 76 votes to 56. A dispatch rider i secured the Governor-General's signaiture, and the bill will be operative at midnight. Mr. Fitzgerald, ex-Minister of De■fence, protested against the bill as tending to anarchy. It was dishonest to create a new State without disclosing the situation of the people. ( Mr. MacDermot, the Centre party leader, said the removal of the oath would not attract irreconciliables to the Dail. The sooner a 'Republic was proclaimed the hetter, since a prospective one was much more damaging '■than an actual Republic. The bill was piece of chicancry mainly responsible for the economic war and the consequent miseries 'rendering dignified relations with 'Britain impossible. Mr. de Valera declared that Ireland wanted no confession of allegiance to a foreign King. The removal of the ■ oath would increase the respect for law and end the causes of civil war, ' the military preparations for which ! were now completely unjustified. All sections must use the political in- ■ stitutions to advance their ideals. Everything conflicting with the sovereign rights would be removed and Ireland would govern itseif.
