The Qovernment meteorolonlst la8ued the following weather report and forecast Sast niffht:— General Situation: An intense westerly depression covers the Tasman snd New Zealand, while pressure is high over the greater part of Australia. Forecast, Winds moderate to strong northerly to westerly, backing to south -westerly over most of the South IslaYid during to-mor'row. Weather: Unsettled and squally with fairly general rain, some heavy falls in western districts but only light and scattered in eastern districts. A brief improvement, however is probable to-morrow following a change to westerly or south-westerly. Following are the barometer,- maxlmum and niinimum thermomefter, sunshine, and rainfall rea'dings recorded at the Government Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday.
