APPEAL FROM SMUTS TO ABANDON HIS DECISION

Capetown, iVlay Z General Smuts, Minister o'f Justice and Deputy Premier, has cabled to Gandhi urging him to delay his fast . saying: "You are endangering your lil'e, and it might lead to a dreadful calamity." It is understood that the Government of India will shortly consider its responsihility under the gaol rules requiring forcible feeding to prevent death by starvation.
