OFFICIAL OPENING AND PLAY ON NEW LINKS MIXED FOURSOMES PLAYED

The Opotiki Golf Club officially opened its season on Saturday afternoon, when a large number of members and friends, some from Nukuhou and Taneatua, played over the new links. Mr. R. Semple, the president, welcomed the visitors and also com- ' mented on the amount of voluntary work done in connection with the 'forming of the new links and the great expense which this had saved xthe club. The captain, Mr. H. Rolands, also -briefly referred to business matters , connected with the clnb. After the opening speeches, nine mixed foursomes hit off and some twenty other members made up foursomes among themselves. A f eature of the afternoon was the 'number of ladies present.
